Biography

Dr. Laura Vasilakos, OD, FOVDR — known to her patients simply as “Dr. Laura” — has been providing specialized developmental vision care in Hanover, MA since 2018.

A friendly and compassionate listener, Dr. Laura takes the time to understand each patient’s unique vision care needs. She has a warm, engaging approach and especially enjoys examining infants and children, creating a fun and creative environment that helps patients feel comfortable and at ease.

Dr. Laura understands that vision is more than simply seeing 20/20. Before becoming an optometrist, Dr. Laura spent years as a middle and high school science teacher — an experience that gave her a firsthand, classroom-level understanding of how undetected vision problems can be mistaken for learning disabilities, attention difficulties, or simply a child who “isn’t trying.” Her science background also means she approaches diagnosis and treatment analytically, always looking for the root cause rather than the surface symptom. That combination of classroom experience and clinical expertise shapes everything about how she cares for patients today. She is passionate about working with children and adults whose visual challenges interfere with academic performance, daily function, or overall quality of life.

Dr. Laura is a Fellow of the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association (FOVDR) — a board certification earned by a small and select group of optometrists nationwide through a rigorous multi-year process involving clinical practice, post-doctoral education, peer-reviewed case reports, and examination before an international certification board. She is board certified in vision development, behavioral and developmental vision care, optometric vision therapy, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation.

“I started Family Eyecare Solutions with a simple belief: every patient deserves real answers, not just a stronger prescription. Vision Solutions for Life isn’t just our motto—it’s the promise I make to every family that walks through our door.”
